10 Controversial WWE Releases
4. Zahra Shreiber, 2015
Two days after debuting at an NXT live event in Ft. Pierce, FL in August 2015, Zahra Shreiber was fired from the company.
Her rapid fall from grace was the result of what WWE described as “inappropriate and offensive remarks she made that were recently brought to our attention.” But before anyone could even think about accusing WWE of overreacting, it soon became apparent that the remarks in question pertained to various Nazi imagery that she’d shared on social media some three years prior.
The images included a My Little Pony character donning a swastika armband as well as another photo of a swastika hanging on the wall in her home.
Shreiber had seemingly tried to downplay the situation, commenting on her post “I like history ha” and noting “the swastika means prosperity and luck. It was around way before Hitler turned it into an icon.” Those comments, as well as the statement she released shortly after, only seemed to dig her into an even deeper hole.
You could argue that some releases on this list have been unjust. Shreiber’s, however, was not.
