If you don't read the phrase "The Mega Powers Explode!" in the same throat-shredding voice that Vince McMahon used during the intro to WrestleMania V, then you're just not a true old school fan! In the official poster for the 1989 spectacle, Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who were once true partners and now bitter enemies, now stood face to face with their arms flexed and fists cocked. An almighty explosion provides the backdrop, and the symbolism wasn't exactly subtle. I love this poster because of the intensity it projects. From the expressions on the opponents faces and the flames in the background, the audience knew that these two men were heading into a war, and that's exactly what this feud had been. An alternate version of the poster kept the same thematic elements of the explosion and the two combatants front and center, only this time it was an illustration, similar to the previous poster we just saw for WrestleMania I. Personally, I think it looks a little cheaper than the official version, but it's a great piece of 80's kitsch nonetheless.
