The original WrestleMania X8 poster simply featured the Mania logo with the tagline of "The One and Only". This was the first WrestleMania poster not to feature any Superstars or participants, almost as if to signify that WrestleMania itself was now the star. Keeping with the same branding as the previous year, once again WrestleMania was presented as a world class, prestigious event - a far cry from the neon colors, cartoons and cheesy "All American" imagery of earlier years. As the event drew closer and the "Icon vs Icon" match of Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs The Rock was confirmed, the poster campaign was tweaked to feature the two legends face to face (this image would also later be used for DVD covers, etc).
