8. Cody Rhodes Thinks His Last AEW Run Was A Bit "Too Meta"

While the 'American Nightmare' has been somewhat tight-lipped when it comes to how he truly felt about those final days as part of the All Elite promotion he helped create, Rhodes finally offered a rather surprising truth to Sam Roberts during a recent appearance on his podcast.

According to the WrestleMania 39 main-eventer, he felt his last run as a more polarising personality was a little "too meta." Rhodes' response to those crying out for him to turn heel was to boldly claim he wouldn't turn to the dark side. Because that would definitely provoke some genuine heat out of those frustrated same fans, right?

Well, sort of.

On top of feeling said meta turn might have gone over a lot of fans' heads, Rhodes also added that the last-ever thing he did in AEW was actually coach a match between Ruby Soho and Nyla Rose.

Oh, and that final Dynamite promo, one that saw Cody passionately remind All Elite fans who helped build the alternative house they sat in? Rhodes finally admitted here that this was simply his way of telling the audience, "I love you guys so much, and I did all this, and if you have forgotten about it, I don’t think that’s cool."
