10 Crazy Wrestling Gimmicks That Should Have Never Worked (But Did)
8. Val Venis
What could be crazier than a wrestling pimp? Well, how about a wrestling porn star? Such was the standard of the Attitude Era that this gimmick- which would undoubtedly never fly in the PG era we have today- would go on to effectively parallel the rise and fall of The Godfather over the course of the late nineties into the early aughts, his constant innuendo and gyrations facing the same trials and tribulations as his ho-toting cohort at the hands of the Parents Television Council. Prior to that, however, he managed to claim the Intercontinental Title twice and the now-defunct European Title once. Unlike The Godfather, Venis would swap back and forth between his porn star gimmick and others, such as being Eric Bischoff's Raw "Chief of Staff" under his real name, Sean Morley. For the most part, however, he spent his time in WWE under the Val Venis monicker with the porn star gimmick, and despite gradually dropping down the card after Right to Censor disbanded, managed to get about ten years or so of mileage out of it before finally departing the company in 2009.
