10 Crazy Wrestling Social Media Meltdowns
8. Abraham Washington's Anti-WWE Tirade
Remember Abraham Washington? He had two short runs on WWE television, first as an ECW chat show host from 2009-10, before returning as a manager two years later. His most famous work came alongside The Prime Time Players, Darren Young and Titus O'Neil, who took Washington on as their mouthpiece for a short spell that summer, before a tasteless sexual assault joke got him fired in August.
Abraham didn't take kindly to this. He claimed he'd been sacked not for the joke, but because he'd tweeted in support of Linda McMahon's senate campaign at a time when she was trying to distance herself from WWE. A lengthy series of outbursts followed, and while Washington wisely deleted the tweets shortly after posting, they were laced with venom.
Not only did Washington attempt to defend his indefensible "joke," but he ripped into the company for their family-friendly focus, conveniently ignoring that they'd been operating with a PG rating for four years. He then talked double standards, citing Vince dropping an N-bomb on live television as a specific example. A fair point, but one that would've come off a lot stronger if it wasn't surrounded by petulance.
