The cage match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns didn't plumb the shadowy depths of their WrestleMania clash, which prompted the most negative and aggressive crowd reactions since Lesnar battled Goldberg more than a decade ago at WrestleMania XX. It was, however, another clunky and leaden battle composed almost entirely of suplexes and both men kicking out of each other's finishing moves.

Matters were worsened, though, by the finish of the match. In a final attempt to put Lesnar down for the count, Reigns delivered a brutal spear to the champion against the wall of the steel cage, which collapsed. Both competitors fell to the floor and Lesnar, having left the cage first, was declared to be the winner. The cameras, however, made it clear that it was Roman Reigns who was the first man to get both of his feet on the floor and, therefore, the true winner.

The commentary team spent several minutes attempting to justify and explain the bizarre refereeing decision. At one point, Corey Graves decided that Lesnar had got his knee off of the cage wall and on to the floor first, claiming that "it could be a one knee equals two feet situation". On a night full of terrible announcer calls, it was one of the worst lines of nonsense anyone said all evening.
