4. Jinder Mahal Sells Nothing
The United States Championship match between Jeff Hardy and Jinder Mahal was a forgettable affair that will disappear from the memory of fans almost immediately. It certainly did nothing to raise the pulse of the fans in Saudi Arabia, who had been very into the show up until this point. Indeed, the one thing that might keep it in the mind is the incredible botch that occurred in the final few minutes of the match.
Hardy knocked Mahal to the floor before scaling to the top rope. He leaped from the turnbuckle to deliver his trademark Whisper in the Wind corkscrew moonsault, only to miss completely and crash to the mat. For reasons best known to himself, the Modern Day Maharaja decided to sell the move anyway and fell over without any provocation whatsoever, reminiscent of the notorious Batista oversell of a Mark Henry headbutt.
This moment was a particularly poor spot in a match that never caught fire and always seemed a few steps off the pace. Both Hardy and Mahal are capable of putting together a solid wrestling bout, but poor timing and potential miscommunication here led to one of the worst botches of 2018 so far.
