3. Roddy Piper Gets Personal With Russo

One more entry from TNA's Asylum days, and here's where we get into the really dark, unpleasant territory.

In general, it was probably unwise of Russo to allow his talent come up with their own worked shoots, especially when they're Roddy Piper, and especially when Hot Rod had a personal bone to pick with Russo. Piper, a close friend of the Hart Family, was mightily torn about the untimely death of Owen in 1999, and Hot Rod put the blame on Russo. In the ring, Piper called Russo a piece of garbage, and claimed that Owen was dead because people like Russo had power in wrestling.

When Russo came to the ring to confront Piper, Roddy cornered Russo and asked him, point blank, "Did you kill Owen Hart?"

Once again, it was an example of Russo using the early days of TNA as his own personal fanfic, but this was deeply uncomfortable, given that it touched heavily on a real person's death only a few years after it happened.

Using Owen's death to add heat to a phoney worked shoot was nothing short of tasteless, and given that many do blame Russo for the incident, for him to try to capitalize on that perception is very ghoulish.
