10 Cringeworthy Worked Shoots In Wrestling History

2. Paul And Michael Go To The Alamo (Or Don't)

Let's move from untimely deaths to silly men sombreros, shall we?

By 2007, the New Age Outlaws had seen better days. Now in TNA, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn were renamed BG and Kip James, and rechristened the Voodoo Kin Mafia (or VKM, do ya get it?). Wanting to get themselves and their promotion a little attention, Dogg and Gunn called out their former DX buddies Triple H and Shawn Michaels for a confrontation at the Alamo. Except, they referred to them as "Paul Levesque" and "Michael Hickenbottom."

Oh dear.

First off, it's incredibly sad that TNA were hoping to get exposure by punching up to the much larger wrestling company. This was not the equivalent of DX's invasion of Monday Nitro at the Norfolk Scope in 1998, which had one giant wrestling company invade a giant of equal size. These were the kids trying desperately to get a seat at the adult table.

Secondly, it's bad enough they were trying to get over by waving their hands at WWE, it's another to try to force reality into this incredibly hokey situation by using shoot names. Just like with the Punk/Triple H promo, it shows how lazy worked shoots can get when all they have going for them is that they don't use stage names.

And once again: VKM? Just...just no.
