10 Current Stars Who Should Have Been WWE Champion By Now

1. William Regal

William Regal is someone who could best be described as a €œwrestler€™s wrestler€. For over thirty years, he€™s commanded whatever ring he€™s stepped foot in with untouchable skill and unwavering devotion to his character. His role within the company always depended on what they needed of him, and in 2008 that meant becoming the King of the Ring. This signalled an apparent push for Regal, including a run with the World Heavyweight Championship, but it was all derailed when he was suspended for violating WWE€™s Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy. Since then, Regal has addressed this and has always been candid about his own faults and failings. He even brought it up in a promo before his most recent match, last year against Antonio Cesaro.
€œI never achieved what I coveted the most, and that was to become the World Heavyweight Champion, but that€™s my fault because I have wonderful knack for getting myself into a trouble. To the people that really know, I have always been a world class, second-to-none technical wrestler.€
Although for now William Regal hasn€™t officially retired, that match was over a year ago and he hasn€™t wrestled since. It seems the time has indeed passed for Regal, and his name will instead be added to the list of great wrestlers who never won a World Championship alongside Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts and Scott Hall.
