Twenty years ahead of their time, Noriyo Tateno and Itsuki Yamazaki offered U.S. audiences a glimpse of how exciting and credible women’s wrestling could be. After building their dazzling reputation in Japan, the Jumping Bomb Angels jumped to WWE in 1987, immediately rejuvenating the women’s division with their explosive offense and unbreakable chemistry.

They were the sole survivors in the women’s elimination match at the inaugural Survivor Series and won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at the first Royal Rumble. Their reign was cut short six months in, as the Glamour Girls won back the belts during a tour of Japan.

As quickly as they arrived on the scene, the Angels left WWE and have never returned. However, their influence on the industry is evident today.
