10 Disastrous Wrestling Debuts
3. Sin Cara
Sin Cara, the former Mistico, was WWE's widely-touted replacement for Rey Mysterio. Mysterio's knees were utterly mummified by 2011. Sin Cara was his younger, fitter, more spectacular replacement. WWE's merchandise department breathed a sigh of relief - all they had to do was design a few more masks, and they'd be set for another decade.
Unfortunately for them, it wasn't that easy. Unlike Mysterio, Cara had next to no experience of the North American circuit. And, unlike Alberto Del Rio, who learned how to wrestle on the unfamiliar left side in Florida Championship Wrestling, Cara was not afforded similar protection. His matches, consequently, were riddled with botches.
Cara, however, was a bust before he even applied his first hold. Debuting on the April 4, 2011 episode of RAW, Cara was due to announce his super-heroic presence by vaulting seamlessly over the top rope, via unseen trampoline, in order to confront Sheamus. Regrettably, he mistimed his trajectory so badly that he crotched himself on it. He looked less like an otherworldly acrobat and more like the nerd who couldn't do P.E.
His name translated, loosely, to 'No Face'. It was hilariously apropos - he had zero chance of saving it.
