10 Disturbing Times WWE Flirted With Romance Angles

1. Women: Still Objects In 2021

In 2015, WWE benevolently allowed the women to wrestle long matches and not strip down to their underwear.

Since then, job done, really. Women's Revolution: completed!

There are few writers, all of the male writers are redundant because Vince McMahon is king anyway, the only main roster female commentator they had was screamed at and insulted by, yes, Vince McMahon, and looking at the absolute state of NXT 2.0, the developing talent are less interested in learning their craft and principally concerned with sitting on the nearest c*ck.

WWE deserves credit for almost splitting match time between men and women in half. This was inconceivable during the early 2010s. But there's always something with this company that prevents a rational person from putting it over. Specifically: in 2021, Indi Hartwell was booked as the property of either Dexter Lumis or Johnny Gargano, depending on who won the match.

In 2021, if Johnny Gargano defeated Dexter Lumis, Hartwell would be forbidden from going out with the guy she liked. This would absolutely not have happened had the gender roles been reversed because men aren't things.

It was a disturbing glimpse into a process that will never truly change. The storyline wasn't helped by Lumis at certain points simply assuming Indi's consent. Played for laughs, it was mostly too dumb to offend, but given what NXT 2.0 became, burying the sh*t out of it wasn't exactly hysterical.
