Aw Dude... WWE's Counterprogramming Of AEW Has Fallen On Its Ass (WWE News)
WWE's Worlds Collide crossover show will reportedly NOT air live next weekend.
With WWE Worlds Collide and AEW All Out going head-to-head next weekend, there's now some uncertainty surrounding that crossover Worlds Collide show.
For those unaware, AEW was first to announce that All Out will take place at the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, just outside of Chicago, on Saturday, September 26th. That news was soon followed by WWE announcing a Worlds Collide event for that exact same day, with the exact same start time, and taking place at Rosemont's Allstate Arena, which, according to a quick online search, is roughly 20 minutes from the Now Arena. As such, many fans have seen this as an act of aggressive counterprogramming from WWE.
In the case of All Out, that will air on the usual pay-per-view platforms, but with the event just over a week away, there's still no information on when and how fans will be able to watch Worlds Collide.
Per Fightful Select, WWE sources have said there's a "good possibility" that Worlds Collide isn't broadcast live, though that could change between now and next Saturday. As of this past Tuesday, Worlds Collide was viewed internally by some WWE sources as simply being a "live event", and if the event does end up being broadcast at a later date, that will likely be on YouTube or Club WWE.
Additionally, PWInsider has been told that the event will be taped and there is a plan to broadcast it at some point, but the expectation was that it wouldn't be airing live. Again, this report suggests that Worlds Collide is likely to end up landing on YouTube or Club WWE down the line.
As for the Worlds Collide line-up, that sees WWE and AAA talent go to battle, as CM Punk teams with Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano to take on Omos, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh; La Catalina defends her recently won AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against Roxanne Perez; the Lucha Brothers reunite to face Los Perros del Mal; Las Toxicas go up against Fatal Influence; and Dragon Lee squares off with Jack Carthweel.
Previously, fans had presumed they'd have to choose between watching All Out or Worlds Collide next Saturday, but as of this writing, it looks like All Out will be the only show airing next weekend.
