10 WWE Divas That Were Underutilized

1. Katie Lea Burchill

The most underutilized WWE Diva, and the woman who, above all the others, was not given a fair shake in the Women's Division, is none other than Katie Lea Burchill. Originally slated to debut as one-half of an incestuous sibling duo with kayfabe brother Paul Burchill, Katie Lea possessed an eerie demeanor. She was cold and withholding, yet enticing and inviting. Blessed with a pristine figure, a flawless face, and a charming accent, Katie Lea seemed destined for great things, especially since she was being pushed to challenge Mickie James for the Women's Championship. Once Katie Lea gained her shot at the Women's Title (and was soundly defeated), WWE switched gears on her €œrelationship€ with her brother and seemingly lost interest in doing anything of note with her. Instead of being profiled as regularly as before, Katie Lea found herself without much of a character before winding up on ECW. In ECW, Katie played valet for Paul and set off into a ridiculous feud with The Hurricane, trying to discover his real identity (even though fans had already known his identity since 2001). Soon, Katie began sporting a darker look and face paint, being referred to as the Dark Orchid by commentator Matt Striker. She began showing more of a meanstreak in her matches and seemed to be trying, of her own accord, to make her persona connect with the fans. Unfortunately, it didn't connect with WWE and they released Katie shortly after Paul. Proving you can't keep a dark and twisted woman down, Katie Lea showed up in TNA under the name Winter. Obsessed with Angelina Love, Winter showed that she was a bona fide actress, a talent WWE failed to pick up or capitalize on as Winter seduced and entranced the former Knockouts Champion (and the fans along the way). Still proving to be a formidable ice queen, Winter showed what WWE could have had if they had only given her something for her to really sink her teeth into. Harking back to her days in WWE, Katie Lea should have been at least given the chance to show what she could do as a babyface before being sent packing. Considering the monumental feud she had with Beth Phoenix (resulting in a Ladder Match) in OVW, WWE missed the boat on making lightning strike twice and treating the fans to what could have been one hell of a feud in the division.
