10 Divas Who Accused WWE Of Sexism

7. Paige

The outspoken Brit, Paige opened a lot of eyes earlier in 2015 on social media, Tweeting out that she felt WWE could do a lot more to help their female talent. On the surface, it was a strange decision from the young Diva, one who has been given ample opportunity to get over with fans, something she has largely achieved. Even so, Paige has talked in interviews about wishing Divas were given longer durations for their televised bouts, rather than suffering through short, uneventful spot fests whilst the men rarely have to. It's hard to argue there, the Divas would benefit from getting longer matches, and it's clear that Paige - whilst knowing she has to appear a certain way to fit into WWE's vision of what a Diva should look like - really just wants to show what she can do inside the ring. That kind of attitude could and should be encouraged more, because why shouldn't the women get matches as long as the men? WWE fans have been conditioned to expect that women can't draw for anything other than looks or sex appeal, which is unfortunate. When there are wrestlers like Paige out there, ones who possess both beauty and talent, there really needs to be a shift of emphasis. Longer matches are just the tip of the iceberg, WWE's writers need to allow these women to shine as characters too, rather than stereotypical bitches with little to say.
