10 Dream Scenarios For Wrestling's New BOOM Period

1. The Biggest Match In Wrestling Happens

Cody Rhodes Vs. The Rock is the biggest singles match in pro wrestling.

In fact, the prospect is so thrilling that their interactions have overshadowed what was, in January, the other biggest match in wrestling: Cody Rhodes Vs. Roman Reigns. The ironic thing about the Rock's new, rather selfish nickname is that, technically, Roman Reigns is the Final Boss. Cody must defeat him to "finish the story" - but it doesn't feel that way at present.

Wrestlers saying the word "f***" is an easy cheat code to generate interest. That may seem incredibly reductive, but it's no less true. The Rock's Friday Instagram drop is almost too effective. His impression of Cody crying for his "mommy" before, with that irresistible bass and timing, telling Cody to "Shut the f*** up!" was far more engaging than the revisionist history and flat insider references of the March 22 Cody Vs. Roman promo "battle".

Cody Vs. Rock is a better prospect than Rock Vs. Roman Reigns, and really, Hollywood Rock is levels above everything else to an extent that it's almost not worth putting on TV. Everything else is diminished.

Cody Vs. Rock should headline WrestleMania 41; this story of toxic masculinity, ironically, is better than Roman's years-long attempt to to portray a figure corrupted by power.
