10 Dream Wrestling Matches Fans Just Missed Out On
4. Chris Benoit vs. Ricky Steamboat
Both competing together in WCW throughout 1993, Ricky Steamboat and Chris Benoit would never get the chance to piece together what would surely be an in-ring classic. In fairness to management, Benoit wasn't really a focal point at the time, and by the time he did return to the company in 1995, Steamboat was already gone. Retiring in 1994, Steamboat would make sporadic appearances for TNA and back in WWE over the years, but he'd never face Chris Benoit. Many point to a dream match between Benoit and the man he very much studied, The Dynamite Kid, which would have surely been a tremendous match, but there's something about the smooth style of Ricky Steamboat which would have complemented Benoit's hard-hitting style perfectly. Looking at Steamboat's matches against other heavy-hitters, such as Rick Rude, there's evidence to suggest that Steamboat enjoys such a stiff style, and thus would have been in his element against Benoit. Simply by giving these men 20-30 minutes ring time, the company would have been rewarded with a match fans would still be talking about today.
