3. Austin vs Hogan

It was, by a distance, the biggest match that never was. The two biggest stars in pro wrestling history were on a collision course for Wrestlemania 18, in a match that would have surely gone down as the biggest of all time. Big, basically, is the word we're using here. Except, for whatever reason, it didn't happen. Did Hogan refuse to put over Austin? Did Austin refuse to put over Hogan? Whatever the reason, it didn't materialise, and Austin got given Scott Hall instead. Now, the reason that this isn't number one on our list is because that, while it was a shame to not see the Rattlesnake open up a can of whoop-ass on the Hulkster, we did get Rock / Hogan instead, and in fairness, that provided one of the greatest - if not the greatest - Wrestlemania Moment of all time. Still, though, we can only imagine what the atmosphere would have been like if original plans had come to fruition. Would the fans have turned on Austin? Would Hogan have hulked up? We'll never know.
