10 Dumbest Ways WWE Promoted WrestleMania Matches
5. The Undertaker Vs. Shane McMahon - WrestleMania 32
A whole load of convoluted, retconned bullsh*t, we might never learn of the contents of Shane McMahon's lockbox. And by "might", we mean "certainly", because if WWE can't remember whether or not the automatic rematch clause is a thing, there's no chance we're finding this out three years later.
Prodigal son Shane McMahon returned on the February 22, 2016 RAW with a promise to rescue WWE from the warped egos of his sister and her husband. Vince, with dollar signs spinning in front of his eyeballs, offered him the chance to do just that - if he could defeat The Undertaker in a Hell In A Cell match. Much was at stake (nothing ended up being at stake); were Shane to win, he would gain control of RAW (he lost, but still did). Were he to lose, he'd hand control of a "lockbox" containing various Vince secrets (he lost, but said lockbox was swiftly Mike Kanellis'd).
The Undertaker did McMahon's bidding for reasons that were not adequately explained, Shane jumped off the Cell and barely sold it the next night, and all of this happened so that Michael Cole could read, robotically, from a script. On camera.
But what was inside? What incriminating material was Vince so desperate to gain possession of?
