The discourse stemming from Stomping Grounds and the main event itself was very controversial.

Seth Rollins infamously stood up for WWE, on the eve of headlining a bad show that drew poorly, by proclaiming it to be the best wrestling on the planet, period. His subsequent spat with Will Ospreay broke the internet; people made fools of themselves and were buried for it in an onslaught that perhaps didn't factor in the enormous pressure that Rollins was under to deliver in the spot.

Lost amid that particular controversy was that Baron Corbin received death threats for hitting Becky Lynch with his End Of Days finisher, as revealed on After The Bell with Corey Graves.

Now, the professional wrestler is prone to embellishment. It is their job, and Corbin revealing this info or exaggerating it puts his heel character over. But it's not unrealistic that Corbin was subject to death threats.

Wrestling isn't a shoot. Inter-gender wrestling is a controversial form with potential to trigger, but Corbin didn't intentionally hurt Becky Lynch. He performed a move in accordance with the script.

Vince McMahon ultimately agreed to it, and he receives a booming ovation for garbling out incoherent noise on the few occasions he's desperate enough to be on telly.
