10 Dumbest Wrestling Heel Turns Ever

4. Jeff Hardy

Like Bill Goldberg in WCW (more on him later), Jeff Hardy was one of TNA's last bonafide megastars largely untainted by the chaotic booking of the Hulk Hogan/Eric Bischoff 2010 regime. His return to Impact on the historic January 4th edition of the show was at the time a symbol of their anything-can-happen philosophy they genuinely believed might afford the company a run at WWE, and he looked on paper to be an excellent choice for company World Champion as the new management again ignored the plight of the downtrodden TNA stalwarts.

Unfortunately, very little happened in TNA back then without an ugly twist.

Jeff would be anointed at Bound For Glory 2010, the company's biggest show of the year. Main eventing the show alongside Kurt Angle and Mr Anderson, Hardy's victory became the convergence point of a major angle the company had quietly ran that again relied on tired tropes. Hardy was revealed as the evil centrepiece of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff's new 'Immortal' group that also included Jeff Jarrett, Abyss and briefly Ric Flair's 'Fortune' Horseman knock-off crew.

Hardy was ill-suited to the role as it was, undermined further by spiralling personal problems that infamously saw him appear in no condition to perform against Sting in TNA's most disgraceful ever pay-per-view main event.
