10 Dumbest WWE Title Changes
8. Chris Jericho Beats Kevin Owens (Payback 2017)
WWE clearly needed an excuse to transfer Chris Jericho over to SmackDown back in April, although why the move was so urgent when Y2, it seems, isn't going to be a full-time member of the roster until - at the earliest - after his January date with Kenny Omega, we're not entirely sure.
Still, there were perhaps better ways to do it than have him beat Kevin Owens, by whom he was soundly defeated at WrestleMania a month earlier, for a two-day US Championship reign. All this accomplished was to muddy the waters of a feud that should have been dead and buried when KO got his win on the 'Grandest Stage of Them All'.
Unless they plan to revisit this program at a later date, which seems unlikely now that the 'Prizefighter' is moving forward with his feud with the McMahons alongside new BFF Sami Zayn, it appears in retrospect as though Jericho - who cost Owens his title again on his July cameo - emerged from their storyline on top. And given that he's the one nearing retirement here, that probably wasn't what they were originally shooting for.
