What a year it has been for Jay White. It may have started with a slightly disappointing match against Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 12, but the Switchblade has gone from strength to strength ever since. Not many performers can say they have defeated Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada and Tanahashi in the same year, and his G1 total of 12 points was one of the best debut totals in history.

For much of 2018, Switchblade has been stirring the pot within CHAOS. He doesn’t seem particularly popular within the faction, so it isn’t entirely clear why they keep him around, but White isn’t involved for the sake of it. There is a good reason for White’s involvement, and that will come to a head with a major match at the Tokyo Dome.

For the first time since Wrestle Kingdom VI, Kazuchika Okada will compete in a Tokyo Dome match that doesn’t involve the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Okada will be reunited with the title soon enough, but he will first have to go through White. The future of CHAOS will be on the line, as the Switchblade makes his move for control of the stable.

Okada could find himself up against Chris Jericho on 4 January, but the conclusion of this Jay White story feels far more important. The two men will both challenge for the G1 briefcase between now and Wrestle Kingdom, but a CHAOS showdown seems more likely than either replacing Tanahashi in the main event.
