Kenny Omega got over the disappointment of missing out on the Wrestle Kingdom 12 main event by stealing the show in a memorable battle with Chris Jericho. It was a match that was unthinkable at the beginning of 2017, but has seen Jericho put in arguably the best work of his entire career. That is saying something.

Tetsuya Naito will have to do the same, and his opponent will be the most sought after man in all of professional wrestling. It is widely believed that Daniel Bryan’s WWE contract is up in late 2018, so an appearance in the Tokyo Dome isn’t entirely unrealistic. If NJPW wants to up Jericho vs. Omega, then Bryan Danielson’s return to the ring may well be it.

Tetsuya Naito is widely regarded to be a genius when it comes to putting together a wrestling match, and a bout with Bryan Danielson is the dictionary definition of ‘mouth-watering’. Whether it happens or not depends on Danielson’s contractual status, but there’s nothing wrong with dreaming at this point.

It doesn’t mean that Danielson would become a full time NJPW performer, although that isn’t impossible either. Danielson will surely be able to pick and choose his dates when he eventually leaves WWE, and a match against Naito in the Dome will be too big to ignore.
