10 Early Predictions For WWE SummerSlam 2016
2. Roman Reigns Makes A New Star
For now, Roman Reigns' time in the spotlight appears to be over. The Wellness Policy violation was the straw that broke the camel's back, and after taking consecutive pinfalls at Battleground and Raw, Reigns has been shunted out of the title scene for the first time in years. Finn Balor will meet Seth Rollins for the newly-minted WWE Universal Championship, and Reigns will fall down the ladder.
There may or may not be a heel turn forthcoming, and regardless of how long Reigns' spell in the doghouse lasts, he now lacks something to do. When Raw ended, there was no indication of Reigns' next move whatsoever, and his future looks unclear heading into one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year.
At this point, WWE would be best served by setting him up with an exciting up-and-coming talent who needs a boost. Reigns isn't going to be winning high-profile matches anytime soon, and he already gets jeered out of the building, so why not put him in a match with a guy like Cesaro or Kevin Owens, and have him lose cleanly again?
Reigns isn't going to lose any heat, because he's already the most hated guy in the business, and the victor gains a huge vwin over a guy that's been a permanent fixture in the title scene for the best part of two years. It's the company's smartest possible use for Roman Reigns and this point, and with the other main eventers otherwise occupied, it's exactly what they'll do.
