10 Early Wrestler Finishers You Totally Forgot About

5. Steve Austin - The Million Dollar Dream

While wrestling as 'Stunning' Steve Austin, the future Rattlesnake used something called the Stun Gun as a finishing manoeuvre - basically a sloppy-looking flapjack into a hangman on the top rope. This finish always looked really ropey though, like an accident.

After his January 1996 WWF debut under the Ringmaster gimmick, Austin adopted the use of the Million Dollar Dream submission move as his finish under the tutelage of Ted DiBiase. It was just Sgt. Slaughter's cobra clutch under a different name. The gimmick, and therefore finisher, only lasted a few months, as DiBiase moved to WCW around the beginning of June 1996.

Soon after Austin adopted the 'Stone Cold' moniker, the name a suggestion from his wife at the time, Jeanie. To fit the new persona, Austin began to bust out the stunner, patterned after that of Johnny Ace. However, he'd still occasionally bust out both the Stun Gun and the Million Dollar Dream as transitional moves in future matches, as you can see above.
