10 Early Wrestling Predictions For 2022
6. NXT UK And 205 Live Are Cancelled
WWE has a lot of programming on a weekly basis. RAW, SmackDown, and NXT 2.0 make for seven weekly hours. Add on top of that Main Event, 205 Live and NXT UK, that's another three hours of content. Eventually, the wheels will fall off the content wagon.
205 Live is the standout here. In 2018, 205 Live was firing on all cylinders. The show had compelling storylines and some absolute bangers, eventually leading to a great title match between Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese at WrestleMania 35.
NXT UK has also delivered in terms of quality, with the long-running story between Ilja Dragunov and Walter making for captivating TV during the pandemic era of WWE. But with the recent rebrand of NXT, where do these shows fit in?
205 Live is a filler show. It does nothing but fill time, while the major cruiserweight storylines are told on NXT 2.0. NXT UK does not fit the vision of NXT 2.0. It is very much a Triple H designed product that focuses on work rate and storylines.
This leads to the speculation that maybe these shows could be axed in the coming year. if these shows aren't drawing the necessary numbers, why would WWE keep them around?
