10 Endings That Screwed Great WWE Storylines (And What Should Have Happened)
6. The Limo Explosion
What Happened: Throughout an evening of "Vince McMahon Appreciation Night" in 2007, it became apparent that Mr McMahon was not the beloved idol he thought he was. The dejected McMahon left the arena following the disastrous tribute, and took one last look around the parking lot before stepping into his limo. Vince closed the door, the limo immediately exploded into flames, and the show faded to black. Vince McMahon was dead.
How It Ended: According to Craig De Joseph, former WWE Creative Team member, the plan was for a long term "murder mystery" story arc to be resolved the following year. Unfortunately, these plans were scuppered one week later when, during a planned "Vince McMahon Funeral" episode of WWE Raw, details began to emerge about the infamous Benoit murder suicide incident. The angle was immediately dropped and was never revisited.
How It Should've Ended: This one is all a hypothetical due to the Benoit tragedy. So who could've been behind the attempted murder of Vince McMahon? A character from Vince's past? A returning Shane, or a vengeful Stephanie? Perhaps a shocking twist in which someone like John Cena or Shawn Michaels was behind it all? Or would they take a current heel to the next level of heeldom as a homicidal maniac? Or would it be that cheeky rascal, Hornswoggle, again?
