10 Epic Moments From WWE In MSG

9. The Splash (1983)

Madison Square Garden was home to its fair share of steel cage matches over the years but few have had the historical significance, or been replayed in countless productions, as the match between "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka and then-intercontinental champion Don Muraco on October 17, 1983. The match itself entertained fans and satisfied the paying customer but it was hardly a classic by any stretch of the imagination. Instead, it was a rare opportunity to see Snuka sail from heights rarely seen even a future Hall of Famer could not resist hitchhiking to New York City to witness. Mick Foley watched from ringside as the Snuka scaled the cage, stood high above the audience and flicked his "I love you" sign into the air. Then, with a single leap, he forever changed the trajectory of a young Foley's adulthood. Snuka crashed into Muraco's prone body and Foley decided at that moment that he wanted to do that, to become a professional wrestler and make fans feel the way he felt watching that match. As epic and important for inspiring Foley as it is for the spot itself, Snuka's splash absolutely deserves a spot on this list.
