9. The Rock-N-Roll Express vs. The Midnight Express
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pukErFHDaz4 Throughout wrestling history, there have been some epic and legendary tag team feuds that helped to sell tickets, pay-per-view buys, merchandise, pop television ratings, and everything in between. The feud between Jim Cornette's Midnight Express and the Rock 'n' Roll Express of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson helped to do all of that, but it's the longevity of the feud that is so amazing. If you're counting independent "legends" shows of the modern era, these two teams have been feuding for 30 years now, taking their matches to several different promotions throughout the globe. They are two of the most prolific duos in history, holding over 100 total championships between them. Due to the changing climate in the business, you will never again see a tag team feud that lasts for 30 years, nor will you see two teams combine to win 100+ titles. It started in Mid-South Wrestling, moved to Jim Crockett Productions and the NWA, somewhat moved to Smoky Mountain (in a variation, with Midnight member Stan Lane teaming with Tom Prichard to form The Heavenly Bodies, and feuding with Morton and Gibson), and in countless other promotions. Their matches helped to revolutionize tag team wrestling, as a whole. If you love the style of the Hardys and the kinds of matches they were able to put on in their years together, you owe a lot of gratitude to these two teams. High-flying "rock stars" that threw caution to the wind and took to new heights with metal objects? Before Matt and Jeff were doing matches with ladders, the Midnights and R&R were climbing scaffolds and trying to send the other team plummeting to the ring below. They set new records everywhere they went, and were actually main eventing huge shows in front of thousands of people, which was unheard of for tag team action at the time (and pretty much still is). They've been feuding for so long that the teeny bopper girls who were going crazy over them when they first started are now becoming grandmothers. We'll never see anything like it again.
