10 Exact Moments WWE Stopped Trying
2. Shane McMahon’s Ego Costs Him
Well, he had a good run. In fact, Shane McMahon had several good runs in WWE and consistently seemed intent on portraying himself as the kind of badass who'd wreck shop in UFC if he could be arsed. History is littered with...too many victims of Shane-O's rabbit-punching ways.
Man, those strikes have always looked sh*te.
Things peaked at the 2022 Royal Rumble though. Reports afterwards told the story of an ego running wild - Shane was out of control and wanted to be the main focal point of the annual 30-man match. Various officials and creative team members disagreed, and things got so heated that McMahon had a shouting match with his own father behind the curtain.
An inflated opinion of himself (and of just how much 'Boy Wonder' fans would be willing to stomach) irked many, including Vince. It was all too much, and even Shane's own dad was ready to wave goodbye for the time being.
He'll be back though. Just wait.
