10 False Wrestling Facts You Probably Believe
9. DX Invaded WCW On A Tank To Win The Monday Night War
D-Generation X did not invade WCW Monday Nitro on a tank.
This is a false Mandela Effect memory conditioned into reality by WWE's insistence on folding this segment into its retrospectives as a sweeping, transformative moment.
It was a thrilling segment of wrestling television. WWE had acknowledged WCW in canon previously, but this time hit different. It wasn't referenced from a gotten-to, defensive position, but literally the opposite. This was the WWF on the attack, thrust into it by runaway creative momentum - genuinely life-affirming stuff for the loyal Titan lifers, which, puzzling as this may read to some of you, included your writer.
But it wasn't a tank. It was a jeep with a cannon attached to it.
There was only one Tank involved in the Monday Night Wars, and the dipsh*t too many of you think is still good wanted to strap him.
It also didn't change anything, with the Stamford blinkers removed forcibly by years of WWE bullsh*t.
WCW remained competitive for the best part of a year after it took place, and while Triple H gleefully put himself over as King Dick, the coolest guy in a room he wasn't even in, Goldberg was handily out-drawing him.
