As the single most infamous moment in WWE history, the Montreal Screwjob is a deep, murky tale that has been recounted thousands of times from thousands of different points of view.

Thus, it's often difficult to separate fact from fiction when it comes to what went on behind the scenes. Almost everybody has a different version of events, but one thing that's generally accepted by most sides is that Triple H, not Shawn Michaels or Vince McMahon, came up with the framework.

As per HBK in his book, Heartbreak & Triumph, 'The Game' was the first to suggest a Survivor Series screwjob, stating "f*** Bret Hart, if he doesn't want to do business with us, we'll do business for him."

A plan was hatched soon after, but Triple H's influence spread further than that. He apparently came up with the specific spot that sent the humiliated Hart packing to WCW, when his match with Michaels was called off as he was trapped in his own Sharpshooter hold, but not tapping the out.

'The Game' wasn't the architect of the Montreal Screwjob, but if the above is true, he definitely sowed the seeds.
