There have been plenty of stories of CM Punk separating himself from those in his life he no longer wishes to be around, and just as many about the difficult upbringing he sought to escape via pro wrestling when he was growing up. The two coalesced in 2013 when TMZ reported that he'd obtained a restraining order against his Mother, and was working to have her banned from ever attending WWE shows to further maintain the divide.

The report noted at the time that Punk filed the order following claims of "repeated financial demands and years of abusive, harassing and threatening behavior", adding that he'd claimed to have given his mother more than $100,000, but eventually "cut her off". He also shared the content of one from a "string of harsh emails", including one that that "You don't give a sh*t about us. You just care about your money and money hungry/fame hungry friends. You would sell us for a nickel."

It's unknown - or at very least has gone largely unreported since the original filings - if any of the legal documents and measures still remain in place.
