Much was forced into changing for WrestleMania 36 due to the time and logistics complaints placed upon the entire world as the global pandemic tightened its grip in 2020, and the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal was one of the first necessary cuts.

With taping time at a premium and some unease about so many people sharing space at a time when everybody was asked to maintain social distance, the filler contest was deemed surplus. One year on, it didn't manage to squeeze its way back onto the show, and as of writing never would again.

Demoted to a "WrestleMania SmackDown" go-home blue brand show, Jey Uso's victory kicked off a good weekend for The Bloodline, but did so in the rather understated surrounds of The ThunderDome rather than the stadium that awaited. Relegating much of the undercard off of the 'Show Of Shows', it's remained part of the pre-WrestleMania SmackDown special ever since.
