A common misconception is that Hogan flew the WWE coop after dropping the WWE Championship to Yokozuna at the June PPV, but that simply wasn't the case. Hogan still appeared at numerous events over the ensuing couple of months, but his WWE future was indeed a cloudy one, especially as no more mentions were made of Hogan on television.

Shortly after losing the belt, Hogan pulled out of a number of scheduled dates, save for some late June house shows in Chicago and Boston. Hogan also performed as scheduled for a sizable tour of Europe in late July/early August, working WWE Championship bouts with Yokozuna in front of packed houses.

Hogan's official last match with WWE before eventually jumping to WCW took place Friday, August 6, 1993, defeating champion Yokozuna by disqualification in Sheffield, England.
