10 Fascinating WWE King Of The Ring 1997 Facts

2. It Marked Sid's Last WWE PPV Match

The real-life Sid Eudy has had an unusual career in professional wrestling, getting huge pushes based on his look and presence, and then disappearing from companies at the drop of a hat. In all, "The Master and Ruler of the World" had three different tenures with WWE, all of which lasted roughly a year or less.

At the 1997 King of the Ring, Sid partnered with The Legion of Doom to face Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, and Jim Neidhart in a mostly-forgettable six man tag in the undercard. The finish came when Hart pinned Sid with a diving sunset flip as Sid attempted a power bomb on Smith.

Sid performed in several matches in the week after the pay-per-view and made a brief appearance on an episode of Raw the following month before, as is his custom, disappearing from the company altogether.
