Although the 2000 WWE roster is easily one of the most impressive in history (and would become even greater once The Radicalz jumped ship), the field for the Rumble match wasn't initially all that star-studded. Once you got past Rock, Big Show, Kane, X-Pac, Rikishi, and maybe Edge and Christian, the Rumble seemed a bit light on stars.

Initially, among the 30 names for the Rumble match, you had The Mean Street Posse, Kaientai, Mideon, Headbanger Thrasher, and Mark Henry. Either the day of the show, or close to it, all eight men were taken out and replaced.

The replacements included the seven participants in the Intercontinental and Tag Team title matches: Jericho, Chyna, Hardcore Holly, The New Age Outlaws, and The APA. The eighth was Bob Backlund, making a surprise appearance. Certainly, one group possesses more clout than the other eight-some.
