Despite never having won a Royal Rumble match, it's impossible to relay the history of the event without bringing up Kane's involvement. Since first appearing in the 1996 Rumble match as Dr. Isaac Yankem, DDS, Kane's made an indelible mark on the event over the years.

In 2006, Kane set a new record for the Rumble match by making his eighth consecutive appearance in the fray, having taken part in each one from 1999 onward. That separated him from two other men that had done seven straight apiece: Rick Martel (1989-95) and Owen Hart (1993-99).

In all, Kane would extend the record to 13 straight appearances in the Rumble match. The streak was broken at the 2012 event, when he eschewed the Rumble, wrestling with John Cena in the undercard.
