In some quarters, the 2018 men's Royal Rumble match features the quickest elimination in Royal Rumble history. To others, Santino Marella's 2009 Rumble outing is classified as the quickest ever elimination.

Whichever of these two superstars gets the spot as the Rumble's fastest elimination, it's an extremely tight call between the pair.

On the surface, both Sheamus in 2018 and Santino in 2009 were thrown over the top rope after just two seconds. Yes, that's right, 2012 Royal Rumble winner and four-time World Champion Sheamus lasted a feeble two seconds in the 2018 men's Rumble contest - eliminated by Heath Slater, of all people!

At least with Santino, the Milan Miracle's brief 2009 appearance - which was brought to a screeching halt by Kane - didn't feel all that odd, given how Marella was positioned as a comedic figure. For Sheamus, it was a major shocker to see the Celtic Warrior fare so dismally in 2018.

When digging a little deeper on who holds the dubious 'honour' of being the Royal Rumble match's fastest ever elimination, it appears that Santino Marella does just edge it - with his official 2009 time clocked at 1.9 seconds.

Still, Sheamus ran Santino extremely close for that record in 2018, with the likes of the Warlord, Owen Hart and Bushwhacker Luke also in this conversation.
