On the night of Friday, August 24, 1990, World Championship Wrestling held a house show in East Rutherford, NJ, only an hour's drive from WWE's Stamford, CT offices. Company producer Bruce Prichard had a particular WCW wrestler that he wanted to bring on board with WWE, but Vince McMahon (after watching the wrestler on tape) wasn't impressed with the prospective talent's appearance.

As Prichard remembers it, he took it upon himself to pick up that wrestler from the airport early that Friday, and drove him to McMahon's palatial estate. McMahon likely had a lot on his mind with SummerSlam just days away, but took the meeting with Prichard and this particular find. To say Vince was more impressed with the wrestler-in-question during the in-person confab would be an understatement.

That wrestler? "Mean" Mark Callous, a lanky 25-year-old brawler that would be re-costumed that fall, and unleashed upon the wrestling world as The Undertaker.
