Former WWE Title-Holder Shockingly TURNS HEEL On Raw (WWE News)

WWE just deleted a stalwart act in the women's tag-team scene on Monday's Raw.

Lyra Valkyria turned heel on her partner Bayley following the pair's unsuccessful stab at the Women's Tag-Team Title vs. Paige and Brie Bella on Monday's episode of Raw. Before the match, Bayley had spoken about the importance of friendship, but her pal Lyra warned that the duo needed to come out on top and leave with the belts.

That didn't happen. Instead, Paige pinned Valkyria after a hotly contested bout, then Bayley attempted to cheer her friend up by embracing her. That's when Lyra pounced and gave the veteran a kicking. Officials tried to stop the beatdown, but Valkyria managed to hit her Nightwing move on Bayley before fleeing the scene.

That onscreen friendship is firmly over then.

Going heel marks an interesting direction for Lyra. She's pretty much been a happy-go-lucky, smiling babyface since debuting on the main roster. Throughout her association with Bayley, it's actually been the latter who's shown some heelish flourishes. However, WWE's creative team has largely moved away from the split personality angle Bayley had been working on.

Now, she'll seek revenge against Valkyria, which could actually hand the women's division a fun non-title feud over the summer months. Bayley vs. Lyra might not be big time enough to make it onto PLE cards like this weekend's Night Of Champions, but it could come in handy for the next Saturday Night's Main Event on 18 July.

Failing that, WWE can always hype a grudge match between the pair to kick off or close a coming episode of flagship show Raw. Some vicious promos from Valkyria to hammer home her heel turn should help sell that.
