10 Fascinating WWE SummerSlam 1992 Facts
5. Nailz Would Later Confront McMahon Over His SummerSlam Pay
Kevin Wacholz, better known in WWE circles as unstable ex-convict Nailz, was a rather frightening heavyweight with a phlegmy growl that would be right at home in a Scared Straight documentary. Nailz was designed for a natural feud with prison guard Big Boss Man, but would work SummerSlam 1992 in a virtual squash victory over Virgil.
More than three months later, at the December 14 Superstars tapings in Green Bay, Nailz cornered McMahon in his office and is alleged to have screamed at him over his SummerSlam pay (sources have listed it at $8,000 or $9,000), feeling it was too low. Bret Hart remembers hearing a loud crash from the office, apparently caused by Nailz knocking McMahon out of his chair, before snaring him in a chokehold.
A host of officials quickly broke up the altercation, and Nailz was immediately fired. Shortly after, Wacholz apparently called the police and claimed that Vince had made a sexual pass at him, to explain why he assaulted his now former boss. Hart said that some wrestlers in the locker room actually admired Nailz for not only assaulting the polarizing McMahon, but for covering his own tracks quickly enough with the story concoction.
