It wasn't Bret Hart's Sharpshooter or Ric Flair's Figure Four that got the honors, but rather Chris Benoit's Crippler Crossface. The triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship is one of the most physical and dramatic bouts in WrestleMania history, reaching an emotional climax when Benoit snared seemingly-unbeatable main event dictator Triple H into the Crossface, shockingly forcing a submission from a man that seemingly never did jobs.

For any smart mark that loathed Triple H and his perceived sway over the WWE landscape, it was gratifying to see a then-heroic mat wrestling underdog be the one to unseat him on the big stage, the pot sweetened with the emphatic tap out.

Since then, four WrestleManias have ended via submission: two with John Cena's alleged application of an STF, one with Undertaker's Hell's Gate, and one with Daniel Bryan's YES! Lock.
