It wasn't a good sign that the Royal Rumble winner didn't get to go on last, a trend that would afflict WrestleMania 22 and the five of the six after it. Mysterio's quest to honor his departed friend went on third from the end, and was originally slotted for 19 minutes. That would be more than enough time for Mysterio, Randy Orton, and champion Kurt Angle to craft an emotional story with some nifty ring work.

Right before headed out to the ring, the three learned that their match was cut down to nine minutes, due to some previous matches going too long (the McMahon/Michaels street fight is a likely culprit).

Even in the compressed parameters, the three still delivered a well-worked match, but it sadly lacked a true audience connection. It should be noted that Triple H's match with John Cena lasted 22 minutes, and you know that wasn't getting trimmed.
