3. Melina And Ashley's Women's Title Match Was Just Spared Being Scrapped
2005 Diva Search winner Ashley Massaro was scheduled to challenge WWE Women's Champion Melina at WrestleMania 23, while the other divas on the roster would surround ringside as "Lumberjills". You know, get everybody involved in WrestleMania, even peripherally.
To give you an idea of what life was like before the pseudo-mixed bag that is today's Divas Revolution, Melina and Ashley weren't even sure the match would take place. The two waited with their female peers by the entrance way throughout McMahon's head-shaving, as their match appeared to be in limbo for time reasons. At one point, they were apparently told it was off.
However, just prior to making their entrances, Melina recalls being told by one of the producers, "Here, we can squeeze you in," as if they were trying to get in to see a doctor on a busy day, unscheduled.
