WWE was willing to be extra-creative with matters involving evil Doink. When the cackling clown went over Crush at WrestleMania 9, he was assisted by a body-double (a clean-shaven Steve "Skinner" Keirn). In a story attributed to Dave Meltzer, one of the originally-suggested plans for how Doink would win was even more unique.

Apparently, Doink was to have been fitted with some unusual mechanism on the back of his mask, beneath the wig. In the closing moments of the match, Crush, having applied the "Cranium Crunch" while the referee was laid out, was to have fallen victim to the mechanism spraying out multi-colored matter that would have rendered him blind, leaving him susceptible to the pinfall.

Various accounts of this theory are indeed attributed to Meltzer, but the only evidence I could find is him noting in his WrestleMania 9 report that "magic" was supposed to play a part in the finish. Nonetheless, it'd have been quite a sight for sure.
