10 Fastest Pushes In WWE History
1. Billy Graham (0 Days)
The fastest push of all belongs to Superstar Billy
Graham, whose ascension to the title was so quick it was in fact immediate.
Like many on this list, Graham’s major push had been preceded by a much less successful spell with the company. On occasion he’d tangled with Sammartino—at the time the champion—but had nothing to show for it and eventually departed in May 1976.
When he re-debuted for the WWWF the following year, though, it was under a rather different proviso—that he’d be winning the WWE Championship.
Graham has since revealed that it was agreed with Vince Sr. that he would take the title from Sammartino and hold onto the strap for almost a year, before eventually dropping it to Bob Backlund—and that all of this was “agreed upon a full year ahead of when it actually happened.”
So on 30 April 1977, in what was Graham’s first match back in a little under one year, the plan was acted out and Graham won the title on his very first night back in the company. As far as pushes to the title go, they don’t get any quicker than that.
